Tire Selection
Which Tire is Best for Your Vehicle?
When replacing tires, always consult the vehicle manufacturer to determine Original Equipment requirements.
Check for the original tire size, speed rating and recommended operating inflation pressures by consulting the tire information placard normally located on a door frame, door edge, or glove box door, OR look in the Owner’s Manual.
It is recommended and preferred that all four tires be replaced at the same time. Having equal quality with all four tires is one part of achieving optimal performance from your vehicle.
However, when this is not possible, the new tires should always be placed on the rear axle of the vehicle. You need greater traction on the rear axle to prevent possible oversteer conditions when driving on wet surfaces. New tires with deeper tread will generally provide better grip and evacuate water more effectively, which is important if approaching hydroplane situations. Traction on the rear axle on wet surfaces may also help prevent a possible loss of vehicle control, especially during sudden maneuvers.
IMPORTANT: Always check the vehicle manufacturer’s recommendation before replacing a tire with a different size and/or construction.
